My Animations

This page is dedicated to all my animations that I have made at my time at Staffordshire University.
In reverse chronological order.

05/06/10
Nevermore, My final film, a dark horror story about a man late one night as he morns the loss of his wife, although his hidden secret comes creeping back to haunt him. Based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe such as; The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Fall Of The House Of Usher and The Black Cat.

09/03/10
HEX: The Legend Of The Chained Oak, A small animation for my external brief project, just playing around with colour and simple movement over photographs that could be used for a title sequence.

28/12/09
Cradle to Grave, A walk cycle that starts from birth and ends with death, going through 6 different stages of life.

07/10/09
He Who Laugh Last, Laughs Longest, This was an animation that started with a single sentence with a pause in the middle for the Microscript module. It was completed within a week at the start of the 3rd year as a test.

30/09/09
9 Principles of Animation, This was the first test to see if we could animate 9 different things that need to be mastered in animation within a week. These are as follows; 1) In To, 2) Under, 3) Against, 4) Over, 5) In Front, 6) Above, 7) Behind, 8) Between, 9) Through.

21/05/09
Happily Ever Cadaver, A joint partnership with fellow animator Rebecca Pemberton as we have a 2D animated zombie fighting for a brain with a 3D animated zombie. All within a 3D composited background.

14/05/09
Katamari, Based on the cult japanese 'Katamari' videogames that feature a small prince rolling up items to get bigger and bigger, similar to a snowball effect, to make huge planets to be put into space. This was for my Digital Compositing Module, and featured a 3D ball animated by Rebecca Pemberton and I composited it all together, including adding all the colour effects and masks to make it go behind certain objects.

29/04/09
Character Rigging, This videos shows how I helped rig the characters for a music video in my Assisstant Animator Project, I had a still image of each band member, then cut them out in Photoshop, then rigged and animated them in Toon Boom.

22/12/08
Nemesis, This module was about compositing live action footage of yourself with your enemy or nemesis. I chose a director, as I'm quite controlling and like to have my way! It was interesting to make it fit together, but I dont really like it, I wanted the voice to be shouty and yelling at me, but instead it was just backwards as I didnt have the time to make a better job of it.

21/12/08
Experimental, A short piece featuring a ghostly apparition floating around civilisation, has no real meaning or significance, I just wanted to play around with time-lapse video and incorporating it with 2D.

15/12/08
Bookworm Lipsync, Using a recording of an interview taken with a librarian, I made a bookworm and added lip movement to match the voice, similar to the show 'Creature Comforts'.

10/12/08
Film Sting, For the Student Film Festival at the University, we had to work in groups to make a short animation that would be featured inbetween the films. We chose the subject of 'films' and each person did something for it, I made the demolition man and edited it all together and added sound.

12/04/08
Things That Go Bump In The Night, First use of digital 2D animation, this was made for a  learning dvd for small children, my theme was bedtime and nightmares.

10/04/08
Cops n' Robbers, My first full length animation, that was recoloured and added sound after the deadline, it features a robber stuggling to free himself from his handcuffs after been chained to a lampost.

17/12/07
Floursack, First test of using the light boxes and line testers with a character.

11/12/07
Stop Motion Test, Short little example of using the stop motion puppet and using the equipment.
